When do you start your week?

When do you start your week? My good friend and wellness blogger Marisa LaValette says that she thinks of Friday evenings as the beginning of her week.

“I go grocery shopping on my way home from work, take out the trash, clean the bathroom, floors, and wipe baseboards. That way when I wake up Saturday morning, I am happy to be in my home—a clear space to channel creative vibes all weekend, whether it’s crafting yoga sequences or new recipes.”

I tried thinking about last Friday night like this, and I loved the mindset it helped me create over the weekend! I woke up Saturday morning feeling so much less pressure about cramming everything I didn’t get done during the week into the next two days.

I felt productive about running errands and going to yoga in the morning, and relaxed about spending what felt like a luxurious afternoon reading a book outside (yay summer!).

My weekend was also filled with “summer cleaning” (storing away sweaters and jackets, hanging up taking out flip flops and sundresses, building a new bookshelf for our living room), catching up with a good friend over Korean BBQ, and reading Jodi Picoult’s Small Great Things. It is so, so good. If you haven’t already read it, you should order it right now!

And even though I didn’t spend Sunday night preparing for the week as I normally do (or I should say, as I have been trying to do, because I’m not great about doing all the things you’re supposed to do to avoid the Sunday Scaries…) diving back into into work this morning felt like less of a shock than it usually does.

What did you get up to this weekend? And what are your plans for this week?! Are you as excited about warm weather as I am?
