What are your plans for New Year’s Eve?
This year I am going to not one but THREE parties.
When I told my sister this, she cracked up. “You? But you hate going out. You don’t even really drink.”
True. Unless it involves salsa dancing, I’d almost always rather stay in with a few close friends. Or, even more often, I prefer to spend the evening hanging out with myself working on some kind of personal creative project, like this blog.
However, my boyfriend (yup, that’s the first time I’m using that word on here) is going to three parties to ring in 2019 and he invited me.
And so, while I am not looking forward to the parties, I am looking forward to spending the evening with him, meeting his friends, and experiencing going to a party with him for the first time.
I am also very excited about the getting dressed up part.
I’m a sucker for pretty much anything that sparkles or shimmers (anything that’s ripped or see-through too). New Year’s Eve is one of my favorite nights to dress up for, because other people get excited about sparkles, tulle, and other over-the-top things too.

Here’s to 2019! 🥂
Outfit Details
“What works well about this outfit is the contrast between the pieces. With a voluminous skirt, you want to keep the top small and tight with some skin exposure to avoid looking frumpy. Similarly, the solid color long sleeve top provides enough coverage to balance the rather sheer tulle fabric of the skirt. Together they look elegant and sophisticated.” – Anya Katsevman, Stylist
- Boots: Madden Girl by Steve Madden. They’re available here, but I got mine on Poshmark for $20.
- Skirt: Urban Outfitters (Similar here, here, and here). I wore a skin color brief underneath, but you could also wear black to match the top.
- Purse: Express (Similar here.)
